Tips for Using Your Hot Tub this Summer

At Texas Hot Tub Company, we know that your spa is like one of the family and you love to use it, especially when cool weather blows in. But, did you know there are a few things you can do as the weather gets warm that will let you enjoy your hot tub to the max, all summer long? Try a few of these simple tips for using your hot tub in the summer!

1. Decrease the Temperature when Using Your Hot Tub

Your internal body temperature is usually 98.6 degrees, and 91 degrees on the surface. During the summer, you may want to bring the temperature on your hot tub down a bit. Most people find that 85°F feels pleasant, especially in the spring and summer months. It also helps when your hot tub is of a higher quality as they are better insulated against the heat than cheaper models. Not only will your spa feel more comfortable, but it’ll also be less work on your heater.

2. Pick a Time

You can also keep enjoying your warm hot tub all summer long by selecting the best times of day to use it. In the morning is great, before the sun starts beating down and temperatures start to rise. And, since the start of your day usually determines your mood, a spa session before work can go a long way. If you can’t do mornings, evenings are just as good. Studies show that a good soak before bed helps you achieve more restful sleep.

3. Partially Refill

Spa maintenance requires 3 to 4 seasonal drains and refills per year. But, if you’re experiencing a drought, or simply want to conserve water, you can choose to only partially drain your hot tub.

  • Turn your hot tub’s heater off, or to the lowest setting
  • Partially drain your water
  • Top off with fresh water

The added water will mix with your current water allowing it to rebalance. By diluting the water, you should be able to go longer between drainings.

It’s easy to love your hot tub all year long, and the summertime is no exception. Let the spa professionals at Texas Hot Tub Company answer all your maintenance questions. Don’t have a hot tub yet? Check out our beautiful selection waiting to be delivered to your backyard!
