The Best Snacks and Drinks to Have After a Hot Tub Soak

After a hot tub soak, your body will feel relaxed, warm, peaceful, and…hungry and thirsty? Yes, though it may seem out of place, it is common to want to eat and drink soon after time in your hot tub. What is our recommendation at Texas Hot Tub Company? Listen to your body. Once you’re out of the tub, and dried off, give your body what it needs. Need recommendations? Here are some of the best snacks and drinks to have after a hot tub soak.

Say Y-E-S to H-2-O

The single most important thing to give your body after spending time in your hot tub is water. In fact, being thirsty is your body’s first warning sign of dehydration. Similar to when you exercise, using a hot tub causes your heart rate and circulatory system to speed up. As a result, soaking in a hot tub makes your body sweat and lose liquids. Drink lots of water to help replace these fluids.

Additionally, a hot tub soak can help remove unwanted toxins from your body. Drinking water will aid the body in removing those toxins and leave you feeling much better.

Get Crazy with Fancy Water

Ok, ok…water is GREAT for your body. But sometimes you just want something with a little more pep. Enter: fancy water. One common example is water with a few lemon slices added. Not only does that help you stay hydrated, lemon water can also aid in digestion and has the added bonus of Vitamin C.

Some other great hydrating waters include cucumber water, coconut water, and other fruit-infused waters. Before you begin your hot tub soak, slice strawberries, melons, and other fun fruits into an infusion pitcher. It will be ready and oh-so-delicious when you’re finished with your spa time.

Cheers to a Good Night

A hot tub soak is a wonderful way to celebrate good news, enjoy a date night, or spend time with great company. If you would also like to celebrate these occasions with a glass of wine or champagne, it is important that you consume alcohol in moderation and do so after you have finished your hot tub time.

Having too much, too soon after hot tubbing can lead to more rapid dehydration, dizziness, overheating, and even passing out. Be careful and consume wisely.

Char-tub-erie to Cure Post Hot Tub Munchies

Just like after swimming in a pool, a hot tub soak can leave you with the munchies. Though you may feel ravenous, it is best to consume food slowly at first. Your body is still recovering from your hot tub session. Blood flow has increased all over the body to keep you cool and, therefore, not concentrated in your core to help with digestion. It is not recommended that you eat a large meal right after soaking in your spa.

Instead, charcuterie-style snacks such as light finger foods, salty meats, cheeses, nuts, olives, grapes, and crackers are a great place to start.

Choose Hydrating Food

We already mentioned the importance of drinking water and staying hydrated after a hot tub soak. Another great way to consume water is through hydrating, water-rich foods. These include watermelon, honeydew, fresh berries, cucumber, and carrots, among many other delicious options.

From Texas Hot Tub Company, bon appétit! We hope you enjoy these yummy snacks and drinks after a hot tub soak and that it contributes to a perfect evening. For more hot tub tips and tricks, contact our team or visit any of our five locations in the DFW area.
