5 Strong Spa Hot Tub Maintenance Tips and Tricks

5 Strong Spa Hot Tub Maintenance Tips and Tricks

While hot tub maintenance may not be your favorite chore, we can all agree it’s a necessary part of hot tub ownership. However, at Texas Hot Tub Company, we believe hot tub care doesn’t have to be complex or daunting. Here are five Strong Spa® maintenance tips and tricks to follow.

Set (and Keep) a Hot Tub Maintenance Time Every Week

Proper hot tub maintenance will not only keep your spa safe to use, it will increase its longevity as well. Regular maintenance includes testing the water using a hot tub test strip or kit and balancing the chemicals accordingly. You need to perform this maintenance every week, even if you didn’t use your hot tub in that time period. To remember your maintenance, we recommend you set aside the same time every week to complete it.

If you’d like, you can always bring a sample of your spa water into one of our five convenient locations for a free water test. Using an advanced testing system, we can determine your hot tubs’s exact chemical needs and answer any questions you might have.

Shock Your Hot Tub After Every Use

In addition to regular maintenance, we recommend shocking your Strong Spa Hot Tub after each use. Hot tub shock is a concentrated amount of spa chemicals used to eliminate bacteria or contaminants such as sweat, lotions, and laundry detergent from your bathing suit. Shocking your spa after each use ensures your water is clean and safe to use.

Drain Your Hot Tub Every 3 to 4 Months

Once every three of four months, we recommend you drain and refill the water in your Strong Spa hot tub. Once you have drained the water, take time to gently scrub the spa interior with a non-abrasive cloth and cleaner. After a thorough rinse, you can also apply spa polish to the acrylic interior as well as a conditioner to the hot tub cover.

Don’t Neglect Your Hot Tub Filters

Your hot tub filters serve an integral role in keeping your hot tub ready for use, so don’t neglect caring for them. It is recommended that you run your Strong Spas’ filtrations system for a minimum of three hours every day to ensure the water is being thoroughly circulated and cleaned. During your weekly hot tub maintenance routine, check the hot tub filters for excessive buildup or clogs and spot clean as necessary. Then, whenever you drain your hot tub water, remove the filters for a more thorough cleaning, and replace them as needed.

Keep a Hot Tub Journal

We recommend you have a place to record your hot tub maintenance and regular upkeep notes. These notes should include what you do and the date it is completed. Trust us, a hot tub maintenance journal will come in handy when trying to think back on what you’ve completed, noticing trends, and even identifying concerns before they become a serious problem.
