Is Your Hot Tub Due for Maintenance?

Your hot tub is one of the most valuable things that you own. Not only because of the monetary investment that you made to purchase it, but also because of the value that it brings to your life. It helps you rid yourself of stress. You feel better after you use it. And you’ve seen a lot of health benefits since you’ve had it. It also gives you a place to spend time with your family and get connected. Because of these things, you want to take care of it and have it last you as long as possible.

Your hot tub is designed to last for years. The one thing that you can do to ensure it continues to give you enjoyment for a very long time is to perform routine maintenance. By spending a few minutes every month giving your spa the attention that it needs you will be doing just that. You have a schedule of checks that you perform and chemicals that you add. You check the pump, filter, and hoses on a routine basis. But sometimes things happen that you aren’t expecting. It is important to know some of the signs that your hot tub might be sending to let you know it needs a little extra care.

Hot Tub Scents

The smell that is given off by your hot tub can tell you a lot about what it needs. For instance, so you know what a chemical smell means? Usually, it indicates that you have a buildup of sanitizer. On the other hand, a musty smell would mean that the water doesn’t have enough sanitizer. Both of these issues can be solved by adding some oxidizer to the water and letting the balance even out.

How Does it Look?

The look of the water tells a story as well. Green water means that you have algae present. Not to worry. You should just adjust the chlorine levels to get the pH balance just right. In addition to that you might find that your water is overly foamy. This is caused by a mixture of lotions, body oils, and soaps that come off you and your guests when you get in. You can probably remedy this with a defoaming agent and a little sanitizer.

The good thing is that you don’t have to tackle this on your own. You can take a sample of your water and bring it to one of our locations. We’ll be happy to run an analysis on it and tell you if it is low or high on anything and what you need to add to balance things.
