Factors that affect hot tub cost

You might be interested in purchasing a hot tub, but you need to find out if you can afford one before you get your hopes up. A hot tub is a major purchase and sometimes finding a price quote for a hot tub can seem like searching for hidden treasure. It’s not that hot tub salesmen are trying to keep the cost a secret. It’s just that there are several different factors that go into determining the cost of a hot tub so it is hard to throw a price out there. For example, there can be a huge difference in cost between entry-level and high-end hot tubs. You could find an entry-level hot tub for as little as $3,000, while a high-end tub could be upwards of $18,000. Even after picking a model there are still additional costs that need to be factored in. At Texas Hot Tub Company, we want our customers to go into their purchase with their eyes wide open. We put together this buying guide to help you think about all of the factors that need to be considered when thinking about the actual cost of a hot tub.

Quality

The first thing that you need to consider when determining the cost of a hot tub is what level of hot tub you will be buying. Entry-level hot tubs are usually made with lower, quality materials and less insulation. They range in price from $3,000 to $4,000. A mid-level hot tub can give you a little better quality and come with a price tag of $5,000 to $8,000. Finally, a top-tier hot tub will bring you the highest quality materials and the highest price tag ranging from $9,000 to $18,000. Yes, there is a huge price variation, but that just means that there is plenty of room for you to find something that will fit your budget.

Size

Once you have found the level of hot tub that fits your budget, size will need to be considered. It will definitely play a role in how much your hot tub costs.  Hot tubs can seat anywhere from 2 people all the way up to 12 or 14. Obviously, the bigger the hot tub is, the more expensive it will be. They take more materials, have more jets and bigger pumps. Size definitely affects price.

Additional Features

Next, you will want to think about additional features you may want in your hot tub. There are all kinds of special features that you can add. From upgraded neck pillows to additional jets, you can make your hot tub as fancy as you want. Adding fountains, special lighting and Bluetooth technology are all things that would set your hot tub apart from all of the others and give it that high-end feel.  Aside from all of the fun features that you might choose, there are also special water care features that can be added. These give your hot tub better filtration, cleaner water, and more energy-efficiency. In addition to the hot tub itself, you can also add features like stairs, handles and upgraded covers that will add to ease of use and add to your upfront cost.

Installation

Once all of these things have been considered, you also need to think about the cost of installation. Installing an above ground hot tub can range in price from $300- $15,000 depending on where you live and what you want for your hot tub. Your site will need to be prepped. This usually requires at least leveling or reinforcing the area. If you plan to add a patio or decking that will also affect the price. You will likely need to run electricity and a new outlet to support your hot tub. When purchasing your hot tub you need to ask up front about delivery charges if they are not included with the overall price of your hot tub you will need to factor those in as well.
