What’s the Difference Between Sauna Types?

With such amazing wonderful health and wellness benefits, the decision to add a Finnleo® Sauna to your home is easy to make. More difficult, though, is choosing between Finnleo’s excellent selection of high-quality, effective saunas! At Texas Hot Tub Company, we can help you find the perfect sauna for your home, your goals, and your budget. First, let us explain what’s the difference between sauna types so you can find the right fit for you!

What is a Traditional Sauna?

For most people, when you think of sauna use, the traditional sauna is what you’re imagining. Traditional saunas use a heater with rocks to emit heat and raise the temperature of everything inside the sauna: the walls, the bench, the air, and you. While relaxing in the elevated temperature, your body’s response to the heat is what creates the mental, physical, and even emotional benefits.

Traditional saunas have a high average temperature of between 150 to 185 degrees. In addition to the high heat, you can pour water over the rocks to create steam. This can make the room feel more comfortable and has added benefits.

Conveniently, since a traditional sauna heats everything inside the room, you can sit, stand, or lay down anywhere that is comfortable. Also, keep in mind that a traditional sauna needs time to heat up, and, therefore, it should be turned on about 30-40 minutes before you plan to use it.

Finnleo Traditional Saunas are available in both indoor and outdoor units and are simple to install. In fact, our team at Texas Hot Tub Company can have your Finnleo Hallmark Series Sauna installed and ready to use in less than an hour!

What is an Infrared Sauna?

An infrared sauna is equally as wonderful with a few distinct differences. The main contrast is the heating method. Infrared saunas emit infrared heat waves that raise your body’s temperature. This means infrared saunas heat users directly. As a result, infrared saunas do not require the high heat of a traditional sauna to be effective; the average temperature ranges from a much lower 120 to 140 degrees.

With infrared technology, the infrared waves allow the heat and its benefits to penetrate deeper into your skin, muscles, and joints for a more thorough experience. Additionally, your infrared sauna does not need to heat up prior to use but instead is ready the moment you turn on the emitters. It is necessary, however, to position yourself directly in front of the emitter to be most effective.

What is an InfraSauna?
