Whether we are talking about spicy foods or hot tubs, there is a big difference in the level of heat that a person can handle. Some say the hotter the better, while others prefer their heat a little more on the subtle side. The good news is, Caldera hot tubs have thermostats that can be set anywhere from 80 to 104 degrees. It’s easy to find the hot tub temperature that’s right for you.
So how do you find your perfect hot tub temperature?
Finding Perfection
The average person keeps their hot tub set between 100 and 102 degrees, although that is certainly not the ideal temperature for everyone. A good way to find the temperature that you prefer is to start out by setting your tub to 98 degrees, soak for a bit and then adjust the thermostat up a degree or two at a time until you reach the temperature that is best for you.
Heat Limitations
There are times that you will need to limit the temperature of your tub. We don’t recommend children be in a hot tub that is greater than 95 degrees. For adults, limit your time in the spa if you want your water temperature to be 98 degrees or higher. That’s warmer than body temperature, and it imitates fever, so limit your time to 15-20 minutes.
Another reason you would want to limit your heat would be if you have any health conditions that might determine how hot your tub should be.
Air Temperature
Weather can also have an impact on your hot tub temperature. When soaking in extreme temperatures, whether they are hot or cold, you will want to turn your tub down a few degrees. If the air temperature is too hot or too cold it can affect how your body interprets temperature which puts you at a higher risk for overheating.
What Is Your Goal
Finally, you might want to consider what activities you are planning to do in your hot tub. If you are simply relaxing 100-102 will feel great. However, if you are using your hot tub for an activity, such as hot tub yoga or for other types of exercise, you may prefer a slightly cooler temperature.
Something to Consider
Ultimately, it is up to you what temperature you set your hot tub at, but keep in mind that constantly adjusting your temperature up and down is hard on your hot tub components and will likely require more chemicals because you will be altering the balance of your water. So you may not want to adjust the temperature too often.
It isn’t more expensive to keep your spa water at 102 degrees compared to 95 degrees. Our hot tubs are so efficient that lowering the temperature doesn’t really save you money.
Many Caldera hot tubs can have a CoolZone hot tub cooling system, allowing you to maximize your hot tub experience. Make your hot tub feel like a mini swimming pool when it’s hot outside so you can enjoy it all year long.
