So Many Options for Your Spa Cover Replacement

Your five-year-old vinyl hot tub cover is outdated (they make them better now!), heavy with water retention, cracking and even smells funny. You’d better face it – it’s time for a new spa cover. But there are so many options to choose from it can be a tad overwhelming, especially if you’re looking to upgrade to something long-lasting with a warranty. That’s okay, Texas Hot Tub Company’s got you covered (cheesy pun not withstanding).

Traditional Spa Cover

Traditional covers are typically made of vinyl with a foam core usually one to two inches wide. Manufacturers like Caldera Spas are making traditional vinyl covers that are custom fitted to their spas, reliable and durable with an extended warranty. It’s one of the least expensive cover options on the market.

It’s important to know, however, that traditional spa covers are more susceptible to damage from extreme weather, such as hail, or extended use. If the vinyl gets even a small rip, then the foam core can retain water, making the cover heavier, not to mention smelly from always being wet on the inside. So, this is a great option for hot tubs that are indoors or in an enclosed space, like a screened porch, so the cover is protected my effectively from unforeseen damage.

Smart Top Covers

Smart Top Covers utilize a polymer deck surface and aluminum channeling. The polymer decking provides structural integrity for the cover and decreases the risk of water getting inside. Aluminum channeling wraps around individual strips of a high-dense foam interior to shield the foam. It also comes equipped with a hydraulic cover lift system.

If aesthetic is important to you, then take note that a Smart Tops folds in half and then stands upright from the side of the hot tub when not in use. It can be a distraction for those seeking to create an ambiance in their backyard oasis. Smart Top Covers are good for hot tub owners looking for something middle of the road in price, but durable and reliable in construction.

Covana Covers

If you’re looking for something a little different, but amazingly reliable, consider Covana Covers. Not only do they protect swim spas from heat loss and weather damage, but provide easy access to your swim spa (it auto opens and retracts with the push of a button) and a convenient canopy when you’re using it. You’ll find them available for hot tubs and Covana Covers for swim spas too.

Swim Spa Covers

Since swim spas are bigger than hot tubs, the above covers don’t really apply. If you’re looking to replace a cover for a swim spa, take a look at the options provided by Endless Pools for their swim spas. The BiFold Rigid cover is recommended for Endless Pools swim spas installed outdoors to maximize security against damage and unwanted access, as well as retaining heat. Retractable covers are great for indoor Endless Pools swim spas because they’re easier to use and the risk of weather damage is dramatically reduced.

If you have additional questions about hot tub replacement cover options, Texas Hot Tub Company is happy to help.
