So how long should you stay in your hot tub, anyway?

A high-quality hot tub can improve your health and overall daily living in more ways than most people can imagine. (And this time of year, can you imagine a better way to de-stress from the holiday hustle?)

But if you soak on a regular basis, it’s crucial you understand how to run and operate your hot tub safely and adequately. Soaking in a HotSpring Spa is hands down the best way to relax, but there can be health risks if your hot tub isn’t used properly.

Building Relationships

Whether staying up late gazing at the stars (or watching for Santa), a HotSpring Spa helps you disconnect from your fast-paced, technology-packed lifestyle and reconnect with the world around you. Hot tubs are also known for bringing families together, and they add some fun and excitement when socializing with friends – think of it as recess for the big kids.

Hot Tub Temperature

How long you stay in your hot tub will be determined by your overall health and the temperature of the water. Many people enjoy a relaxing, safe soak at about 100 degrees to 102 degrees, while others prefer a warmer experience at around 98 degrees. On the flip side, some prefer a sizzling hot bath at the maximum heat of 104 degrees.

Typically, the higher the temperature of the water, the shorter the soak per sitting. When you’re trying to find your ideal soak temperature, play around with the different temps. If the water is too hot or too cold, switch it up every couple days until it’s just right.

The Risks of Soaking to Long

Enjoying a warm, bubbly soak has many benefits, but staying too long can also cause overheating and dehydration – typical symptoms include nausea, dizziness and light-headedness. To be perfectly safe, consult with your doctor before you begin using your hot tub. Your doctor can advise you of any potential health concerns, and if of your ideal soaking time.
