In the winter, not a lot sounds better than stepping into a hot Finnleo sauna. Whether you have a traditional or infrared model, you can enjoy the relaxation and health benefits of this Finnish tradition. But did you know your relaxation habit may also be helping your heart?
The general cardiovascular benefits of sauna use, like lowered blood pressure, have been known for a long time. But now studies are proving that frequent, regular sauna use can keep your heart healthy and help you live a longer life.
For 20 years, researchers from the University of Eastern Finland followed almost 2,500 middle-aged men. They separated them into groups based on how frequently they used a sauna each week. The study found that, in the group that went just once a week, 49% of the men passed away. In the group that went two to three times a week, 38% passed away, and in the group that went four to seven times a week, 31% passed away. More sauna use equaled lower death rates associated with cardiovascular disease and stroke.
Other studies have also shown that regular sauna use may help with other heart disease risk factors like high cholesterol and diabetes.
If you don’t already have a sauna, Finnleo’s Hallmark Series is a great place to start. These traditional saunas are easy to assemble, energy efficient, and come with everything you need to start enjoying your sauna right away.
