Myth: COVID Can Be Spread in a Hot Tub or Endless Pool

In today’s world of chaos and confusion, it can be hard to determine fact from fiction. We all know about the quarantine and social limits, so it’s natural to wonder what our “safe places” are. If you’ve been refraining from using your spa because you’re afraid COVID can be spread in a hot tub or Endless Pool®, Texas Hot Tub Company is here to help!

Worried COVID can be spread in a hot tub?

According to the Centers for Disease Control, or CDC,  there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread through the water found in swimming pools, hot tubs, or swim spas. Of course, social distancing is still recommended and you should probably refrain from sharing your hot tub with people who aren’t members of your household. But, as long as the water remains properly sanitized, soaking or swimming in your spa is totally safe.

So, what makes hot tubs and swim spas so safe?

It’s a combination of heat and chemicals. Our bubbly oasis is not considered a medical treatment if you have contracted the virus. However, the CDC does confirm that the heat along with your sanitizing chemicals like chlorine and bromine, can inactivate the virus.

Here’s the Bottom Line.

Just like in cold and flu season, good personal hygiene goes a long way. We know that COVID can be spread quickly and easily. However, it can’t survive in the warm, therapeutic waters of your hot tub or Endless Pool. So don’t give up your favorite decompressing haven! Be sure to keep up with your regularly scheduled maintenance and hopefully soon, we can enjoy entertaining again.
