Hot Tubs: A Biker’s (Other) Best Friend

Everyone knows that touching a biker’s bike can get you into all kinds of trouble. A bike, after all, is a biker’s best friend.

But a biker’s other best friend should be his spa. Or her spa. Gender doesn’t matter when it comes to the undeniably natural fit between motorcycles and hot tubs. Both the manliest men and girliest ladies know all too well the pain that comes with long, hard rides.

Aching muscles, stiff joints, sore feet and a back that screams and yells at every turn. This is the price you pay for the freedom, joy and thrill of cruising the highway on a two-wheeled growling beast that doubles as a work of art.

Let’s start with the hands. Even if you don’t suffer from arthritis, it’s easy to feel like you do after a few hours of gripping perpetually vibrating handlebars.

And that vibrating isn’t confined to the hands. It makes its way up the arms, it bores through the shoulders and anchors itself into the hips and lower back, where it grinds and tears and chews without mercy.

Then there are the legs. Whether they’re outstretched on a Chopper or cramped up on an Indian, they’re not moving, blood is pooling and dull, numbing pain is suddenly along for the ride with you. But that can all end the second you get home with a soak in a spa.

And end it will.

Pulsing jets work throbbing muscles. Hot water soaks in and loosens tightness in the back, legs and shoulders. Hydrotherapy releases tension, reduces inflammation and stifles screaming nerves. Those aching joints in your hands begin to subside, your mind drifts away and, before you know it, you’re back on your bike — only this time it’s in your imagination while you’re soaking your troubles away in a hot tub.

Until it’s time to hit the road again.
