Hot Tub Relaxation is Written in the Stars

Your last chance to see a supermoon in 2016 will be on December 14th. Rather than hunting for a place to get a great view, look no further than your own backyard. What better way to bask in the nearly 30% brighter glow and up to 14% bigger size of a supermoon than from the relaxing comfort of your own Hot Spring hot tub?

We don’t think there is a better way!

Let’s pause here for a little science lesson, shall we? A supermoon, or perigee full moon, is a full moon that is closer to earth than average when it’s on the perigee side of its orbit around earth, which is about 30,000 miles closer to earth than the apogee side of the orbit. According to NASA:

“The word syzygy, in addition to being useful in word games, is the scientific name for when the Earth, sun, and moon line up as the moon orbits Earth. When perigee-syzygy of the Earth-moon-sun system occurs and the moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the sun, we get a perigee moon or more commonly, a supermoon!”

Okay, so what if you miss the last supermoon of the year? You know, there is really something to be said for the tranquility that comes with stargazing on any evening while you let our stresses melt away in your hot tub. There are so many things you can watch in the night sky throughout the rest of the year as well, such as meteor showers (you can find a schedule at the bottom of this Meteor Showers article on The Skyscrapers website).

Better yet, grab a telescope and take stargazing to a whole new level by adding the comfort of your hot tub as you look for constellations or planets. This really isn’t a bad idea for a date night either!
