5 Steps to Get Your Hot Tub Ready for the Fall Season

5 Steps to Get Your Hot Tub Ready for the Fall Season

When they say everything is bigger in Texas, they most certainly were thinking about the heat and humidity! If you’re weary from sky-high temperatures and muggy air, there’s good news for you: fall with its crisp air is just around the corner. At Texas Hot Tub Company, we recommend you use these last few weeks of summer to prepare your hot tub for more frequent use. Follow these five steps to get your hot tub ready for the fall season.

1. Give Your Hot Tub a Thorough Cleaning

First, take the time to thoroughly clean your hot tub. Even with regular spa maintenance, biofilm, algae, and other contaminants can still build up on the sides of your spa and the inner plumbing over time. Add a hot tub line flush or your preferred hot tub cleaning product. Turn on the pump to circulate the water and let this run for several hours. You can even let it work overnight if you feel it is needed. You’re going to drain this water (see next step), so don’t worry about any gunk that appears in the water.

Don’t Forget To Clean the Filters

Be sure to clean your hot tub’s filters as well! While the water is circulating and cleaning your spa, remove the filters and soak in a hot tub filter cleaner. The filters can soak for up to 24 hours. If your filters are not fresh and clean after soaking, it may be time to replace them. Contact our team to order new filters that fit your hot tub make and model.

2. Drain and Refill the Water

We recommend that you drain and refill your hot tub water once every three to four months. This makes the changing of seasons a great time to complete this task. Once the water is drained, use a soft bristled brush or towel to scrub your hot tub interior. Then thoroughly rinse the interior one more time.

3. Review the Settings and Features

Before the fall season arrives, it’s also a great time to remind yourself of all the amazing things your hot tub can do! Pull out the owner’s manual to review the hot tub settings and features so you’re ready for maximum enjoyment. If you have any questions about your spa’s function or abilities, stop by our store for help.

4. Inspect Your Hot Tub Cover

Don’t forget your hot tub cover! Before the fall season arrives, give your hot tub cover a thorough cleaning using the proper cover cleaning products. You also want to carefully inspect your hot tub cover for soundness.

If you notice any cracks, sagging, rips, or other damage, your hot tub cover will not function the way it’s supposed to. This can prevent your hot tub from staying warm, cause water to evaporate quickly, and create additional energy expenses. Instead, order a custom-fit spa replacement cover that will keep your hot tub running efficiently and safely. Order now to get in time for fall.

5. Consider Adding Hot Tub Accessories

Now is the time to get fun, new hot tub accessories you can use throughout the entire fall season! At Texas Hot Tub Company, we carry both fun and practical hot tub accessories. For further enjoyment, add a hot tub pillow, a side umbrella, or a hot tub entertainment center.  For additional convenience and safety, add a hot tub step, handrail, or hot tub cover lifter.
