Ready to add the most versatile piece of workout equipment to your routine? Take your athletic training to the next level, or begin the journey to wellness and take advantage of the extra joint and balance support a hot tub offers. Then, once you’re done with your workout completely, relax those sore muscles and increase circulation to promote healing with your spa.
Upper Body
The water provides resistance, almost like adding weights to these exercises, while the heat from your spa loosens up your joints and muscles for a safer routine. Warm up your whole upper body with these simple moves:
- Shoulder Rolls- Hold for 3 to 5 seconds, repeating a forward and backwards motion 5 times.
- Arm Circles- Do 5 complete circles forwards and backwards with your arms extended like airplane wings under the water to make 1 set. Complete up to 5 times to work your arms, shoulders, and back.
Core
Remember to breathe while you exercise your midsection. Keep your core muscles tight as you perform these exercises in your hot tub:
- Torso Rotations- Kneel on the floor of your spa with your hands on your hips. Rotate from side to side while tightening your ab muscles.
- Ab Crunches- Sit up straight in your spa as you exhale, squeeze your abdominal muscles. Hold for 3 to 5 seconds.
Lower Body
Lower body exercises are perfect for working major muscle groups and often involve your core and back. Try a few of these is your hot tub:
- Bicycle Kicks- Sit on the edge of your seat, hold on to the rails, and lift your legs to float in the water. Pedal your legs, just like riding a bike. Start at 30 seconds and work your way up to 1 minute.
- Lunges and Squats- These exercises are hard on the joints outside of the water. But, performing them in your hot tub adds extra support plus resistance. Aim for 3 sets of 15.
