Can I Use Epsom Salt In My Hot Tub?

Epsom salt and hot tubs have something in common: they are both associated with pain relief. If you’ve ever taken an Epsom salt bath, you know how lovely the pain relief can be. This may lead you to wonder, “Can I use Epsom salt in my hot tub?” While it would be great to combine these two methods of pain relief, it is unfortunately not recommended. However, there are ways to maximize pain relief while keeping your hot tub safe.

Good for you, but not your hot tub.

While Epsom salt may provide great relief for you, unfortunately, your hot tub does not feel the same way. When Epsom salt is added to your hot tub, a chemical reaction occurs, which affects your hot tub’s pH and total alkalinity levels. This chemical reaction is not only bad for the water, but it can also damage the surface of your hot tub. Lastly, it is a lot more difficult to drain your hot tub than your bathtub, and you’re going to need a lot more Epsom salt to help you relax in the bath if you do. So, it’s best just to stick with options that are hot tub-approved.

How HotSpring® Helps

With a HotSpring® Spa, you will get maximum value and maximum relief from your hot tub. HotSpring has designed a unique Freshwater® Salt System. This system is super easy to use: all you have to do is insert a cartridge, the hot tub does the rest.

Once the cartridge is inserted, it will release salt and other chemicals into the pool. These chemicals react to create chlorine. These chemicals are less harsh than typical pool chemicals and there are fewer added. So, it is easier on your body and skin, and you don’t have to do as much maintenance! In addition, since this system is saltwater-based, it provides similar relief to Epsom salt.

Experience even more relief.

With HotSpring, the relief doesn’t stop with saltwater! HotSpring also offers a line of hot tub-safe aromatherapy — MPScents® non-chlorine oxidizer plus aromatherapy. It comes in four scents, including:

  • Citrus Blossom to invigorate your senses
  • Island Escape to transcend into relaxation
  • Spring Shower to refresh your body
  • Zen Garden for overwhelming peace

With HotSpring, you truly will experience maximum physical and mental relief. Mix and match these aromatherapies to create your own personal oasis of relaxation.
