Hot Tub in the Summer

Soaking in a hot tub during the heat of a Texas summer may seem like a contradiction, but once you have experienced the soothing relaxation that comes from soaking in a Caldera hot tub, you won’t want to miss out because of the heat. With a few slight changes to your routine hot tubbing in the heat can be just as enjoyable as soaking in the spring.

Turn Down the Heat

With the extreme temperatures of a Texas summer, you will probably want to turn the heat down on your hot tub. Anywhere between 85-94 degrees is a great temperature for summertime hot tubbing. It is still hot enough to enjoy all of the benefits to your muscles and joints, but now has a refreshing temperature for the heat of summer.

Keep the Cover on

It may seem like leaving the cover off of your hot tub would be ok during the summer since the outside temperature could easily be above your hot tub temperature, but leaving your cover off is not a good idea. The temperature fluctuation throughout the day is not good for your tub water, so keep that lid on tight.

Be Mindful of the Sun

Just like you would when swimming in a pool, you will want to make sure that you protect yourself from the sun. If you are hot tubbing during the day, be sure to apply sunscreen and wear your sunglasses and maybe even a sun hat. You may want to consider adding a gazebo or sunshade to your hot tub so that you don’t have to soak in direct sunlight.

Stay Hydrated

This one is pretty much common sense for summers in Texas, but soaking in your hot tub will keep your body temperature elevated and can increase your risk for dehydration. You should also minimize your alcohol consumption while you are using your hot tub during the summer, as it can be an added risk factor for dehydration.

Take a Night Soak

You may find that waiting until night time makes your soak that much more satisfying. When the sun goes down after a scorching hot day, everything feels so refreshed. Even if the actual temperature is not that much cooler than the daytime, you will find that soaking in your hot tub at night is far more appealing. You don’t have to worry about sunscreen and you can turn that water temperature back up.

Whether it is a cool spring evening or the hottest summer day, you will find that you don’t want to miss out on a daily soak in your Caldera hot tub. Stop by our showroom and let us help you pick out the hot tub that will make all of your days so much more relaxing.
