Four Hot Tub Myths Busted!

Buying a hot tub can be a bit overwhelming. There is so much information floating around on the internet and being passed along by friends it is hard to know who is telling the truth, who is just blowing smoke, and who is simply misinformed. Today we are busting some of the most common hot tub myths so you can see clearly where the best hot tubs sit.

Myth #1: You can save money buying a cheaper tub

One of the most common myths in hot tub history is that you can save money by buying a hot tub from a big box store or through a great deal on the internet. When the smoke clears these “great deals” are really cheap imposters. That old saying “you get what you pay for” always holds true with hot tubs. These hot tubs are cheaply made, they have far less insulation, they are not energy efficient, and you can pretty much guarantee that corners have been cut throughout the whole manufacturing process. There is good reason that name brand hot tubs, like Caldera, are well-known. They have a reputation for quality and that only comes from consistently delivering energy-efficient well-made hot tubs that outlast the competition.

Myth #2: The more jets, the better

New hot tub shoppers tend to look at the number of jets as one of the top indicators of how good a hot tub is, but the number of jets should really take a backseat to several other factors. You can have as many jets as you want, but if they don’t have the power you want or they aren’t well-placed they will not do you any good. For example, if you are wanting your hot tub to help ease neck pain, you shouldn’t buy a hot tub with a ton of jets mostly focused on your back and legs. Those jets aren’t really doing your pain any good. It is important to take a test soak so you can focus on jet placement and the type of jets. This helps you ensure that you are getting properly place massage jets and pulsating jets.

Myth #3: Get the most powerful pump possible

Many hot tub salesman who are trying to feed you a line, lead you to believe that more power equals better performance. In reality, hot tub pumps that are extremely powerful, are actually not very energy-efficient and too much power can be a bad thing. You want your hot tub jets to give you a relaxing massage, you don’t want them to beat you up. You really need to look for a hot tub that has an energy-efficient pump that is just right for number and types of jets that your tub has.

Myth #4: You don’t need to try before you buy

Many internet sites and box stores would lead you to believe that it is perfectly ok to buy a hot tub that you have never seen in person and worst of all one that you have never even tried. That could not be further from the truth. Every hot tub brings something different to the table. There is no way to know that you are getting the best without experiencing it for yourself. We have already discussed several ways that people can be fooled when purchasing a hot tub. The only way to know for sure that you are going in with your eyes wide open is to buy local so you have actually seen and felt what you are investing in. And they will be there to help you in the long run.

Purchasing a hot tub is a big decision, but by taking time and doing your research, you can go into your purchase feeling confident that you are making the best decision possible.
